1.  What are the main materials you recycle?

Primarily we recycle paper and cardboard products.

2.  Are there any other materials that can be included in the program?

We can include beverage containers, metal food containers, glass jars, household batteries and small electronics for an additional fee.

3.  What do you do with the materials you collect?

All of the fibre (paper and cardboard) are taken to Cascades Recovery to be packaged and shipped to market. Other materials are taken to the appropriate depots including the PG Recycling & Return-It Centre.

4.  How does your service work?

Typically we schedule collections twice a month. Of course that schedule can be adjusted to a frequency that best serves your needs.

Once we have established your start date we will send you a schedule for the calendar quarter and then once the collections have been performed we will invoice you at the end of each calendar quarter. Some of our customers prefer weekly collections and are invoiced at the end of each month.

We offer two levels of service: Full-service and Basic service. Full service means we go to each central collection bin located in your facility to retrieve the accumulated material and reline the bin with a heavy duty bag that we provide.

Basic service means we will go to a designated area and retrieve the bags of paper, cardboard and other materials that you and your staff have stored there in clear plastic bags or other suitable containers.

5.  Do we have to use a specified recycling bin?

Our program accommodates a variety of bins. Full-service would require a bin suitable for the size of the bag we use. Depending on availability we have a selection of central collection and smaller desk-side bins for sale. Typically a central collection bin would be placed beside a photocopier or printing station and these are the only ones that we service. The smaller desk side bins are to be emptied into the larger central collection bins by your staff as required.

6.  Why do you not accept plastic containers in your program?

In 2014 Multi Materials British Columbia (MMBC) was given stewardship over the recycling of packaging materials in BC. At this time they are only excepting plastics from residential sources. They do not except plastics from the industrial, commercial or institutional (ICI) sectors. This means that here in Prince George, as in other locations in BC, there is no access to the plastic recycling stream for the ICI sectors.
